It has always been the position of the Preserve Camp Coldwater Coalition, that the Coldwater area be open for all people.

This is best shown by our May 14, 2001 ceremonies page- "When all four colors of people come together."

Further, it has also been the long standing position of the Preserve Camp Coldwater Coalition that the potential sale from the Federal Government of the Bureau of Mines campus, would remove existing Federal 106 and other protections currently in place for the Historic Camp Coldwater area, including Coldwater Springs.

While there have been many comments made as to what would need to be done if such a sale took place, the Preserve Camp Coldwater Coalition has repeatedly stated over many years, that Sacred Sites such as Coldwater should NOT be sold. And we have also looked to other areas such as the Pipestone National Monument, and cited it as an "excellent example" for the Historic Camp Coldwater Area.

There are many histories and many peoples who have used and lived in the Camp Coldwater area. From the varied Indian tribes, to Fort Snelling, and the civilian town- everyone has occupied this area. Truly, Coldwater is a place where all four colors of people should come together!

To preserve and protect the natural resources and restore the cultural integrity of the Camp Coldwater area and to acquaint all people with the historic Birthplace of Minnesota.
