A FULL MOON TOUR of Historic Camp Coldwater,
Home to the Sacred Coldwater Springs Saturday, September 21st is the next full moon. But it is not clear if there will be a walk at that time. Meet at the south end of Minnehaha Park (54th St.) Take Minnehaha Ave, south from the Falls to the last parking lot, just north of 54th St. light. You will learn about the history of Historic Camp Coldwaterthe stories and legends, what is happening today and the alternative plans for sustainable tourism. Historic Camp Coldwater is the birthplace of Minnesota and home to the sacred Coldwater Springs. The springs are being threatened by the nearby highway construction project. We are working to protect and preserve Camp Coldwater and the springs by educating the community about this special place. This tour is cosponsored by Preserve Camp Coldwater Coalition and Rethinking Tourism Project. Please call 651-644-9984 for more information. THANK
YOU All FOR ALL YOUR HELP!! |
The last full moon walk ended with a smaller group of people who stayed late and we walked around the entire 27.3 acre Bureau of Mines property. We saw a few of the old coldwater homestead sites as well as some of MnDOT's recent construction, such as their filtering ponds below the road. In the end we watched the large red moon rise above the horizon. (It looks a lot smaller in the picture than in real life)
It was a lot of fun, and we hope to see you at the next Moonwalk!
