DO YOU WANT TO HELP PROTECT CAMP COLDWATER?

Representative Mark Gleason's Press Release

You are invited to a public meeting to discuss and comment on the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) regarding the historic and sacred site of Camp Coldwater as it relates to the sale from the Department of the Interior to the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC).

Come and help protect Camp Coldwater and Coldwater Springs!

Hosted by Representative Mark Gleason and Wes Skoglund, Minnesota House

Thursday, September 6 7:00 p.m. Nokomis Public Library 5100 -34th Avenue South Minneapolis

If the land is sold to the MAC, how can we be sure it will be protected?

What would you like to see done with the area that is Camp Coldwater?

Should the MN DNR & Fort Snelling State Park manage and administer this land rather than the MAC?

The MOA helps to define these things, and the National Park Service is seeking public comment, before writing a final version.

The full text of the draft MOA can be found at http://www.nps.gov/miss/info/BOM/index.html

Representative Mark Gleason's Press Release

PUBLIC INVITED TO COMMENT ON BUREAU OF MINES-M.A.C. LAND TRANSFER SEP 6TH.

Mark Gleason has invited citizens to a public hearing on the transfer of excess federal Bureau of Mines Land near Ft. Snelling to the Metropolitan Airports Commission. A draft Memorandum of Agreement has been submitted outlining the details of the land conveyance between the two agencies, but Gleason said it's insufficient.

"The Memorandum of Agreement is supposed to stipulate how this land will be used", said Gleason. "But while some parameters for the use of the land are discussed, there is nothing in there that explains what it's final use may or may not be. I believe the public should have an opportunity to have some input on that and this hearing is the place to do that."

The public hearing on the Memorandum of Agreement will be held Thursday, September 6, from 7p.m.-8:45p.m., at the Lake Nokomis Public Library, 5100 - 34th Ave. South, Minneapolis.
