PUBLIC HEARING TO HELP PROTECT CAMP COLDWATER

DRAFT MOA RELEASED FOR PUBLIC COMMENT

The National Park Service (NPS) has just released a draft Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to address the closure and transfer of the former Bureau of Mines property, which includes Coldwater Springs and a good hunk of historic Camp Coldwater. The Preserve Camp Coldwater Coalition has been, and remains, a part of this process. The Coalition submitted preliminary comments on this subject on September 15, 2000. These can be viewed at:
http://www.preservecampcoldwater.org/BOM/john.htm

The NPS draft MOA can be viewed at and printed from: http://www.nps.gov/miss/info/BOM/index.html and can be obtained by calling 651 290-4160.

The Coalition is currently reviewing the draft MOA and will provide comment to the NPS by the September 10, 2001 comment deadline. The NPS is scheduling meetings with representatives of the Coalition, and other groups, prior to this date. Please review these documents and feel free to send comments, questions and suggestions regarding a Coalition response to campcoldwater@yahoo.com, or bring them to a Monday night Coalition meeting at Perkins. Individuals are also encouraged to submit comments directly to the NPS before 4:30 p.m., September 10, 2001.
